Police are hunting two men after an armed robbery involving a gun at a Aberdeen shop.

The robbery happened at Brunswick Stores, between the Beach Boulevard and Wales Street, at about 1900 GMT on Wednesday.

Two men went into the store, threatened staff, and escaped with a three-figure sum of money, cigarettes and alcohol.

Grampian Police, appealing for witnesses, said the two men were white, in their 30s, and of average build.

One was wearing a bright red hooded top and a red scarf.

The second man was wearing a black jacket with a zipped front, with a white top underneath.

Det Insp Norman Stevenson, who is leading the investigation, said: "This type of incident is unusual in Aberdeen and will not be tolerated by Grampian Police.

"Detectives are making inquiries into the incident and I want to offer our assurance to the community that the force is committed to identifying those responsible and to bringing them swiftly to justice."
