Meeting over ambulance man 'tea break' death concerns

Senior ambulance managers will meet the public to reassure them after an ambulance man failed to respond to an emergency call while on a tea break.

The technician was 800 yards away when 33-year-old Mandy Mathieson fell ill in Tomintoul, Moray.

The call was instead answered by paramedics based 15 miles away in Grantown-on-Spey. Ms Mathieson died.

The technician kept his job, but managers from the Scottish Ambulance Service are to meet local people.

The ambulance man was ordered to undergo training, after an investigation into last October's incident.
