Police numbers in Grampian force area expected to drop

Police numbers in the Grampian area are expected to be reduced next year as the force implements large cuts in its budget.

Councillors on the Joint Police Board are to hear that 90 officers and 160 support staff are expected to have left by the end of next March.

A new report has said there is bound to be a reduction in service in some areas.

The force is trying to find savings of more than £5m.
