An elderly woman is recovering after being rescued from a river in Aberdeenshire.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public at about 1325 GMT after the 72-year-old tumbled into the River Dee in Ballochbuie Woods near Braemar.

She was rescued by emergency services workers after spending 40 minutes in the water.

She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance but was not thought to be seriously injured.
