Pensioner critically injured in A96 crash

A woman pensioner is in a critical condition following a road traffic accident on the A96 near Inverurie.

The 75-year-old was the front seat passenger of a Ford Orion which was in collision with a Citroen C5 at 1640 BST on Friday.

The 28-year-old male driver of the Ford car and his 25-year-old female rear seat passenger were also injured.

The male driver of the Citroen, who was aged 70, did not require hospital treatment.

The injured people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Grampian Police said the 75-year-old had suffered serious injuries and was in a critical condition.

The road was closed for seven hours while police carried out their investigation.
