Shetland bars in frame for Between Weathers film role
Four Shetland bars have been shortlisted in the search for a pub to star in a new movie.
Aberdeen-based director Jim Brown is producing Between Weathers and wants to find a bar he hopes to make as famous as Local Hero's Pennan Inn.
The Lounge in Lerwick, Pierhead in Voe, The Spiggie Hotel in Dunrossness and The Mid Brae Inn in Brae were chosen from those nominated.
The four shortlisted venues will now be visited next week.
Between Weathers is described as a modern-day David and Goliath story on Shetland.
Mr Brown said: "The response from Shetland was fantastic - pretty much every bar was nominated and I'd like to personally thank everyone who took part.
"The four shortlisted bars will be getting a visit when I'm up with a film crew next week and I'm looking forward to announcing the winner.
"One of these bars is going to become as famous as Pennan Inn did in Local hero."
The Pennan Inn in Aberdeenshire - and the village's red phone box - became recognised after Bill Forsyth's classic 1983 film starring Burt Lancaster.
Carol McGregor, Scottish Hollywood star Ewan McGregor's mother, was recently named as an executive producer for Between Weathers.
More information on the film - in which locals have already been cast - is available on its website.
