Man charged after fatal Aberdeenshire road accident

A man has been charged in connection with a road crash which left a teenage woman dead.

The 20-year-old was charged after a silver Renault Megane and black Ford Ka crashed on the A981 Memsie to Strichen road on Sunday.

Laura Thomas, 19, from Rosehearty, died in the accident and four other people were badly injured.

Grampian Police appealed for anyone who may have seen either car to come forward.

Sgt Chris Whelan said: "This crash is tragic with a young woman losing her life and four other young adults suffering serious injuries.

"Our investigation into the collision is continuing. I am also aware that several people being carried in a taxi provided vital help at the crash scene and I am particularly keen to speak to them as soon as possible."
