Two men have appeared in court in connection with an incident in which a 36-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Inverness.
The man was hit by a black Volkswagen Passat estate car on the A82 at Friars Bridge at about 03:30 on Sunday.
Andrei Sinzieanu, 25, and Dorian Savu, 21, appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Both men made no plea and were remanded in custody.
Mr Sinzieanu is accused of road traffic offences and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
It is alleged he drove dangerously, while disqualified, drove while drunk, without insurance, possessing a false licence, failing to stop after an accident, failing to report it and other road traffic offences.
His co-accused, Mr Savu, was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The injured man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where police said his condition was "serious".
Police Scotland had earlier appealed for witnesses to come forward.
