Man cut from wreckage after A9 crash at Alness

An 85-year-old man has been seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on the A9 in Easter Ross.

The casualty was cut free from the wreckage of his BMW car by fire crews.

No-one else was injured in the crash which happened at Alness, near the junction with Obsdale Road, at about 16:30 on Thursday. Two vans were also involved.

The A9 was closed for several hours with diversions put in place through Alness.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

Three fire appliances attended the scene of the crash.
