A video has been released to highlight the severe weather hillwalkers and climbers can expect to face on Scotland's mountains in winter.

The footage from Mountaineering Scotland, an organisation representing the interests of outdoor enthusiasts, shows a scene from last December.

It shows a group of walkers encounter bad weather at Feshie Bothy in the Cairngorms.

The conditions included flooding and gale force winds.

The clip has been released to highlight a series of free lectures on winter mountain safety by Mountaineering Scotland's Heather Morning, who was leading the group of walkers.

The talks are being held in Inverness on Tuesday, Glasgow on Wednesday, Edinburgh on Thursday and other at other dates and venues in the New Year.
