Vomiting bug shuts ward at Raigmore Hospital

A medical ward at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness has been closed to new admissions following an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

Ward 2A has six patients currently displaying symptoms. Two patients have tested positive for norovirus.

NHS Highland said the virus, which causes diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting, spreads in the air.

The health board added that the virus is "extremely infectious".
