The deaths of a husband and wife whose bodies were found outside their home on Lewis are not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

Donald MacMillan, 73, and his wife Morag, who was 67 and known as Maureen, were found in the village of Gravir last Friday morning.

They ran the post office in the small community in the South Lochs area of Lewis.

Reports have been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Det Insp Richard Baird said: "The tragic and untimely deaths of Mr and Mrs MacMillan have understandably shaken the local and wider communities of the Western Isles and our sympathies extend to everyone who knew the popular and highly respected couple.

"Officers would like to thank members of the local community for their support and co-operation during the investigation."
