Woman who died after Dingwall sea rescue named by police

An 84-year-old woman who died in hospital after being recovered from the sea near Dingwall on Saturday has been named.

Police Scotland said Elizabeth Sutherland was from Conon Bridge, near Dingwall.

She was spotted in the water at the mouth of the River Conon at about 18:20 on Saturday.

Members of the public, the coastguard and the Invergordon RNLI lifeboat took part in a search for Ms Sutherland.

She was later taken on board a coastguard helicopter but died shortly after arriving at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
