Breakdown at Glenconvinth water treatment works

Glenconvinth water treatment works were temporarily shut down after an "intermittent issue".

Scottish Water issued a statement confirming the decision had been made "in line with the normal safeguards to the water supply."

Extra tankers were used throughout the breakdown so the surrounding areas still had access to drinking water.

Water was continuously treated during the issue and the plant is now functioning normally.

The plant supplies water to the Highland areas of Beauly, Drumnadrochit and West Inverness.

The Scottish Water statement said: "Following an intermittent issue at Glenconvinth water treatment works the plant temporarily shut-down in line with the normal safeguards to the water supply.

"Treatment was maintained throughout this issue and the system continued to function. The plant is continuing to run."
