A union representing porters at the biggest hospital in the Highlands and bosses at NHS Highland have held talks in a dispute over a new shift rota.

The GMB continues preparations to ballot its members among the porter service at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness on industrial action.

NHS Highland said "very constructive" talks were held on Monday afternoon and further discussions are scheduled.

The proposed new shift rota has been withdrawn for the time being.

NHS Highland had previously said the new rota would be trialled from the start of next month.

The health board said it would meet the needs of the porter service and "enhance patient care".

Further talks on the shifts are expected to be held on Friday.
