Body found in search for missing man Jason Gates
A body has been found in the search for a Hampshire man who went missing during a trip to the Highlands six weeks ago.
Jason Gates, 39, was reported missing on 17 March after his pet dog was found on farmland close to Drumnadrochit, near Loch Ness.
The body was also found near to the village and formal identification is taking place.
Police have thanked those who assisted with the search effort and Mr Gates' family have been informed.
Concerns for Mr Gates' welfare were raised after his dog Max was involved in an incident at a farm near Drumnadrochit in which three sheep died.
The spaniel was caught on farmland and handed over to Police Scotland
The last potential sighting of Mr Gates, who was from Portsmouth, was on 12 March and he was formally reported missing on 17 March.
In April, his family issued a fresh appeal for information and said they were increasingly anxious about his wellbeing.
Police said the area was busy with with families and walkers at the time Mr Gates went missing, and asked anyone who was there and may have seen him to get in touch.
They also asked residents to check outbuildings, sheds and holiday homes.
