Driver seriously injured in crash on A9 near Tomatin

A man has been seriously injured after his car crashed on the A9 near Tomatin south of Inverness.

He was first taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Firefighters had to cut the man free from the wreckage of his car.

The accident involving a silver Ford Fiesta happened on the northbound carriageway at about 20:25 on Sunday. Police have appealed for witnesses.

The northbound section of the dual carriageway between Tomatin and the Slochd remained closed until about 05:40 on Monday.
