Smart ticketing for school buses in Lothian, Argyll and isles

A new smart ticketing scheme will be available on school transport routes in East Lothian, Argyll and Bute and Western Isles local authority areas.

The Home to School Transport Initiative gives pupils carrying Kidz or Young Scot cards access to their school buses.

The project involves Transport Scotland, bus operators, schools and councils.

The scheme has been made available to other local authorities.

Transport Scotland's long-term vision is for other journeys on Scotland's bus, rail, ferry, subway and tram networks to be accessed using some form of smart ticketing or payment.
