Plans submitted for new Inverness Royal Academy
A planning application has been submitted for the proposed new £34m, 1,420-pupil Inverness Royal Academy.
If given the go-ahead by Highland councillors, it will be the biggest school in the Highlands.
The new school will be built close to the site of the academy building it is to replace.
Currently, the academy has a roll of about 940 pupils. Highland Council hopes to have the new building open in August 2016.
As well as mainstream classrooms, it will have additional support needs accommodation, a Gaelic zone, an outdoor classroom, learning garden and two all-weather football pitches.
