Manchester man caught counting cash stolen in Highlands
Police arrested a housebreaker after a member of the public saw him sitting in a car counting stolen money, Inverness Sheriff Court has heard.
Michael Boylan broke into houses in the Highlands and took cash, jewellery, commemorative coins and watches worth a total of more than £26,000.
The 56-year-old from Manchester admitted to four charges on indictment.
Sheriff David Sutherland sentenced Boylan to four years and eight months in prison.
He stole from properties in Boat of Garten, Advie near Grantown-on-Spey and Nethy Bridge on 8 August.
Police recovered all the stolen items, the court heard.
