Western Isles inter-island air discount scheme mooted

An inter-island air discount scheme has been suggested for the Western Isles.

Lower cost flights are already available to Scottish islanders travelling to and from the isles and the mainland.

Angus Campbell, leader of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said discounts could be offered on flights between the islands.

The scheme would see comhairle and NHS Highland staff flying on business continue to pay the full fare and members of the public a lower price.

Mr Campbell will ask a meeting of the policy and resources committee next week to approve a report on the proposal.
