Police praise Belladrum festival's atmosphere

Police have praised festival-goers at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in the Highlands this weekend.

Officers said they had dealt with two minor assaults, one resulting in the arrest of a 26-year-old man, and made three drug seizures.

The event, near Beauly, is in its tenth year and features music, fancy dress and a roller disco.

Bands and acts appearing include James, Twin Atlantic, Noisettes, Pigeon Detectives and Nina Nesbitt.

The festival sold out its 15,800 capacity six weeks in advance of it taking place.

Ch Insp Graeme Murdoch said: "We are absolutely delighted with the atmosphere.

"It is obvious that everyone is really enjoying the weekend and it is a real credit to all that such a large and diverse crowd are doing so without problems.

"Festival-goers should continue to pace themselves the way they have been and we would urge anyone planning on driving away from the site tomorrow morning to carefully consider how much alcohol they drink today."
