BBC Alba to re-run Dr Finlay's Casebook to mark 50th anniversary

One of the BBC's longest-running TV series, Dr Finlay's Casebook, is to be shown on BBC Alba to mark its 50th anniversary.

The first episode of the drama was screened nationwide on 16 August 1962.

Based on AJ Cronin's novella, Country Doctor, the series ran until 1971. Callander in Perthshire was used for the fictional town, Tannochbrae.

Gaelic broadcaster BBC Alba will show the series starring Bill Simpson weekly at 22:30 from Thursday.
