Approval sought for new distillery in Lochaber
Proposals for a new distillery in Lochaber have been recommended for approval by Highland Council planning officials.
Adelphi Distillery plan to build on the site of a former sheepfold and nearby rough grazing at Glenbeg in Ardnamurchan.
Water would be drawn from an area of protected ancient woodland.
In a report to councillors, the planning officials said the distillery would not adversely affect the habitat.
The proposals also include warehousing and a visitor centre.
Councillors will be asked to grant planning permission later this week.
The planning application has received 105 letters of support and 52 from objectors.
People backing the plans have said it would create a new visitor attraction and jobs.
Opponents have raised concerns for local wildlife and the potential for noise pollution.
