Pedestrian hit by car near Conon Bridge named

A pedestrian who died in the Highlands after he was hit by a car has been named by police.

William MacDonald, 52, of Conon Bridge, was struck on the A835 road close to the village on Wednesday afternoon.

Northern Constabulary said emergency services were called to the scene at about 1730 GMT.

Officers closed a section of the road for a time to allow investigators to examine the scene. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
