New A9 overtaking lane closed off amid safety concerns

A new section of the A9 in the Highlands has been closed off only weeks after it was opened amid safety concerns, it has emerged.

The northbound overtaking lane at Moy, south of Inverness, stretches to less than a mile and cost £2.8m to build.

It ends just before a junction which allows southbound traffic to turn right across the carriageway.

Transport Scotland said routine inspections had identified the potential need for design improvements.
