Approval suggested for new town in Highlands
Plans for a new town to be built east of Inverness are to be considered at a special meeting of Highland Council next Wednesday.
To be built in phases, 2,550 homes, a school, two hotels, churches and shops could be constructed on 194 acres (78 hectares) of farmland.
Nearby communities include Culloden, Smithton and Balloch.
Planning officers have recommended councillors grant planning permission in principle.
Consortium Inverness Estates Ltd has proposed the development.
The council had deferred taking a decision on the project until after the publication of its proposed Highland Wide Local Development Plan.
