Man charged with murder of elderly woman in Hamilton

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of an elderly woman in South Lanarkshire.

The 75-year-old, who has not been named, was found dead in her home in Dalziel Street, Hamilton, at about 16:30 on Sunday.

Craig Haley, 35, made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Mr Haley, from Lanarkshire, was remanded in custody.
