East Renfrewshire Council announces social housing plan
Councillors in East Renfrewshire have agreed to invest £32m in social housing over the next five years.
The authority said the money would deliver "much-needed" new housing and improvements to existing properties.
Key projects include £4m upgrading of central heating and £1.4m to rewire 400 properties.
It follows an earlier announcement that the authority would spend £900,000 on new housing in East Renfrewshire by the end of March 2017.
Housing convenor Danny Devlin said: "We are committed to providing the best-quality homes possible for our residents so I'm delighted that we have made such a significant commitment to improving, and increasing, our housing stock.
"This will make a genuine difference to residents' lives and I look forward to seeing the plan become a reality. It's an exciting time as we enter the most extensive house-building and investment programme in East Renfrewshire in a generation."
