Masked men rob businessman of takings in street

Police are attempting to trace three masked men who robbed a businessman of his takings in North Lanarkshire.

The 65-year-old was targeted while getting out of his car in Greenfield Quadrant, Newarthill, at 23:05 on Wednesday.

The men got out of a green-coloured car, driven by a fourth suspect, which had pulled up beside him.

They seized a bag containing a four-figure sum of cash before the car made off along Mossbank Crescent.

The victim was not badly injured.

The suspects are described as wearing dark clothing.

Det Con Graeme Lawrence said: "Thankfully the man was not badly injured, however, this was very distressing for him to experience.

"Officers are currently checking CCTV and carrying out door to door inquiries in the area.

"This robbery was targeted. The suspects knew what they were doing and when and where the man would be at that time."

The detective appealed for anyone with information, or who was in the area at the time, to contact police.
