Boy 14, suffers rail line electric shock in Lanark

A 14-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after suffering an electric shock on a railway line in South Lanarkshire.

The incident happened near a bridge close to Whitelees Road in Lanark at about 20:00 on Thursday.

The teenager was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment.

A Scottish Ambulance service spokesman said it was alerted by an emergency call and two ambulances were sent to the scene.

A spokesman said: "The patient was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with serious injuries."
