The death of a woman who may have lain dead at her home in South Ayrshire for months is being treated as suspicious.

Police were called to the home of Sharon Greenop in Aldersyde Avenue, Troon, on 10 November after neighbours reportedly complained of the smell.

It is understood the 46-year-old shared the house with her sister and daughter.

Police initially said Ms Greenop's death was unexplained. Following a post-mortem examination they said it was being treated as suspicious.

It is understood that officers are following a definite line of inquiry.
