An elderly woman has been found dead outside her home in Glasgow as temperatures dropped across the country.

The woman's body was discovered at about 10:30 on Sunday morning in her garden at Glencairn Drive, in the Pollokshields area of the city.

It is not yet known how long she had lain there.

Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious. A post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The woman's death comes after a couple who were found dead outside their home in the Western Isles on Friday morning.

Donald MacMillan, 73, and his wife Morag, 67, were found in the village of Gravir, in the South Lochs area of Lewis.

Officers are investigating how the couple came to be outside as temperatures fell below freezing overnight.
