Man, 70, hit by van and badly injured in Irvine

A 70-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in North Ayrshire.

The pedestrian was hit by a white Ford Transit van, driven by a 31-year-old man, on Broomlands Drive, Irvine, at about 08:00 on Wednesday.

The OAP is being treated at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock. The driver of the van was uninjured.

Police said their investigation into the crash was ongoing and appealed for witnesses to contact them.
