Man critical after attempted murder attack in Airdrie


A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being found injured in a street in Airdrie in Lanarkshire.

Police Scotland said officers were called to Victoria Place in the town at 17:30 on Thursday.

The 38-year-old man, who had a head injury, was taken to Monklands Hospital and then later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The incident is being treated as attempted murder.

Officers appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information to contact them.

Roads around the scene remained closed as investigations were carried out.
