CCTV images released in Hamilton robbery probe

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace as part of an investigation into two robberies on the same day in South Lanarkshire.

The first robbery took place at about 06:10 on Clarkwell Road, Hamilton, on Thursday 29 September.

The second incident was at about 07:10 at Shop Smart on Glasgow Road.

No-one was injured in either robbery. Officers believe the incidents are linked and said they wanted to speak to the man shown in the CCTV.

The man is described as about 5ft 10in to 6ft tall with a medium build. Police said he was bald or had receding hair.

At the time of the incidents, he was wearing a khaki green jacket, black trousers, and Adidas trainers. He was last seen on High Blantyre Road, walking down a lane which leads onto Milton Street in Hamilton, and wearing a high visibility vest.

Det Con David Timmons said: "These incidents left the two victims in a state of shock. Our inquiries have been ongoing to trace the person responsible.

"At this time, we believe the man pictured may have information which could assist with our ongoing investigation. Anyone with information as to the identity of this man is asked to Lanarkshire CID via 101.

"Alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed anonymously."
