Second arrest made in Stevenston death inquiry

Police investigating the death of John Smith in Stevenston, North Ayrshire, have arrested a second man.

Mr Smith, 52, was found critically injured at Misk Knowes on Saturday 8 October. He died in hospital three days later.

Police said a 30-year-old man had been arrested in connection with his death.

He is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday. A 26-year-old has previously appeared in court charged with murdering Mr Smith.

Allan Robertson was charged with murder when he appeared in private at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday 24 October.

He was also charged with attempted murder and assault to severe injury.

Robertson, from Glasgow, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
