Man dies after being hit by car in Larkhall

A 58-year-old man has died after falling onto a road before being hit by a car in South Lanarkshire.

The incident took place near a 101 convenience store in Craigbank Road, Larkhall, at about 20:40 on Saturday.

Police said CCTV footage appeared to show the man stumbling and then falling onto the road, where he was struck by a blue Ford Fiesta.

The 72-year-old female driver of the Ford Fiesta was uninjured. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sgt Stewart Dyer said: "At this time, we don't know whether he has taken unwell prior to falling, however, a post mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of his death."

The victim is described as white and of medium build. He was wearing blue jogging bottoms, a grey T-shirt and blue slippers.
