Man, 82, critical after being hit by car in village of Forth

An 82-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car in South Lanarkshire.

The man was hit by a blue Jaguar car on Main Street, in the village of Forth, at about 10:20. No-one else was injured in the crash.

The OAP was flown to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The road has been closed between Harelaw Roundabout and Climpy Road and local diversions are in place.

Crash scene investigators remain at the scene and police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
