A 35-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after three men forced their way into his Renfrewshire home and stabbed him.

The victim was attacked at his house in Hollybush Avenue, Paisley, at about 16:10 on Monday. He is being treated at the town's Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police said two of the suspects were seen running away from the house, towards Nethercraigs Road.

They are described as white and aged between 20 and 30 years old.

Both were wearing grey tracksuits. There is currently no information on the third suspect.

Det Insp Sandy Nelson said: "We have yet to establish a motive for this attack, however, we believe the 35-year-old man was targeted by the suspects.

"We are in the process of collecting CCTV footage from in and around the area which will be scrutinised by officers for any additional information which could assist the investigation.

"I would like to appeal to the local community to get in touch, this incident occurred late afternoon when there would still have been lots of people around. I am asking anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us."
