Girl seriously hurt after being hit by car in Linwood

A 10-year-old girl is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Linwood, Renfrewshire.

Police said the girl was struck by a black Peugeot 207 car on Clippens Road, near the Stirling Gate, at about 15:30 on Sunday.

She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children with serious injuries.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with information, to contact them. No-one else was injured.

Clippens Road was closed for about five hours.

PC Ian Murray, from Police Scotland, said: "This was a serious incident which has left a young girl in a serious condition at hospital.

"We are still determining the circumstances surrounding the collision.

"We would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information that will help us with our ongoing investigation."
