Man attacked by strangers he shared taxi with in Yoker

A man was assaulted and robbed by two strangers he shared a taxi with in Glasgow.

The 29-year-old was attacked and had his mobile phone and money stolen after getting out of the taxi in Yoker at around 05:00 on Tuesday.

Police said the victim met the men in the city centre and agreed to share the silver private hire taxi to Yoker.

After attacking him near the BP garage on Glasgow Road, the men ran off towards Millbrae Crescent.

The victim managed to flag down another private hire taxi and the emergency services were alerted.

Witness appeal

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and released after treatment.

The first suspect is around 5ft 10in with a heavy build, and he was wearing a black T-shirt, blue shorts and sunglasses.

The second suspect is around 5ft 6in and was wearing a dark hooded jacket and dark jogging bottoms.

Det Con Craig Bate appealed for witnesses.

He said: "Officers have been carrying out inquiries, including examining CCTV footage, and several cars and taxis can be seen driving through the area around the time of the incident."
