Alleged Hibs fans abuse: Man reported for wasting police time
Police investigating the alleged verbal abuse of a disabled man by Hibs fans have reported a 51-year-old man to procurators for wasting police time.
British Transport Police appealed for information after it was claimed a man, aged 51, had been abused getting off a train at Glasgow Queen Street Station.
The incident was reported in February.
British Transport Police (BTP) said: "A 51-year-old man is now the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal for allegedly wasting police time."
BTP had previously appealed for information over the incident.
The force said the man had asked the group of supporters, believed to be travelling to watch their team play Dumbarton in an SPFL match, if he could sit on a seat designated for disabled passengers.
After initially refusing, they allowed him to sit down.
As he left the train at Glasgow Queen Street, the group was said to have verbally abused the man, who walks with the aid of two sticks, making references to his disability.
