Woman sexually assaulted by man on train between Glasgow and Airdrie

British Transport Police (BTP) are attempting to trace a man who sexually assaulted a woman on a train.

The 53-year-old victim was "touched inappropriately" while travelling between Glasgow Central and Airdrie on the 23:00 service on Friday 11 March.

The man is described as about 5ft 2in tall, with short dark hair. He wore jeans, a black and white blanket-style checked jacket and black gloves.

BTP want to speak to anyone on the train who witnessed the incident.

Det Con Finlay Bruce said he wanted to speak with a man, in his late 20s, who stayed on board to comfort the victim after the incident despite being due to leave the train at Coatdyke - where the suspect got off the train.

The man who comforted the victim was carrying a guitar.
