Man charged with attempting to murder Glasgow cleaner

A man has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder a cleaner.

Edward Coyle, 49, allegedly assaulted Margaret Campbell, 55, at Lawmoor Street, Glasgow, on Thursday.

Papers from Glasgow Sheriff Court claim he repeatedly struck her on the body with a knife or similar implement to her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger to life.

The charge alleges that he attempted to murder Mrs Campbell. Mr Coyle made no plea or declaration.

He was remanded in custody. A full committal hearing will take place next week.
