Man suffers head injury in street attack in Uddingston

A man has been treated in hospital for a "significant" head injury following a "violent and unprovoked attack" in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire.

The 22-year-old walked from Main Street via a lane to a car park in front of the Tunnocks factory and Rowantree Inn at about 22:30 on Friday 4 March.

He was challenged by a group of men in their 20s standing near the pub, chased into Spindlehow Road and attacked.

The man later called an ambulance after stopping a passing car in Main Street.

He was taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment.

Det Con Leane Holmes said: "This appears to have been a violent and unprovoked attack which left the victim with a significant injury.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and witnessed what happened, or saw a group of men acting suspiciously, to get in touch."
