Van driver Kieran Swinton killed in crash with school bus in North Lanarkshire

A man died when his van was involved in a collision with a school bus in North Lanarkshire.

Kieran Swinton, 19, from East Lothian, was declared dead at the scene of the crash on Banton Road, near Banton, on the outskirts of Kilsyth, at about 08:00.

There was one child on the school bus who was left shaken but unharmed.

The bus driver and a passenger in the van were taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital but released after treatment.

Sgt David Stenhouse from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell said: "The area would have been busy with rush hour traffic around the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch."
