Police probe report of parachute landing in Glasgow

Police are investigating a reported sighting of a parachute landing in Glasgow city centre.

A driver contacted police and told them he had seen someone landing in North Hanover Street at 00:30 on Thursday.

Officers are checking CCTV from the area to establish what happened.

North Hanover Street runs north from Cathedral Street, past the Buchanan Galleries, Buchanan Street Bus Station and Glasgow Caledonian University to its junction with Dobbies Loan.

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 12.30am on Thursday February 18, police received a report of a parachute landing in North Hanover Street, Glasgow.

"Inquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances."
