The family of an 83-year-old man who is missing from his home in East Dunbartonshire has made an emotional appeal for help in tracing him.

Matthew Bowie was last seen by a neighbour outside his home in Gleneagles Gardens, Bishopbriggs, on the morning of Sunday 24 January.

His sister Jean Allan, and niece Alison Graham, appealed for public help during a police news conference on Monday.

Mr Bowie is about 5ft 8in tall, of slim build and has white/grey receding hair.

The 83-year-old is normally clean shaven and is described as active and fairly fit.

He normally wears dark trousers, a shirt and a jumper, however, it is not known what he was wearing when last seen.

Police said Mr Bowie had never gone missing before and had always been regularly in contact with his family.
