Four people hurt as bus and cars collide in Hamilton

Four people have been taken to hospital following a collision between a bus and two cars in the centre of Hamilton.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the South Lanarkshire town's Gateside Street at about 10:55.

The driver of the FirstBus vehicle was taken for treatment to Hairmyres Hospital. A woman passenger from the bus and two men from one of the cars were treated at Wishaw Hospital.

The casualties are not believed to have life-threatening injuries.

Four other passengers from the bus were treated for minor injuries but did not need to go to hospital.

A spokeswoman for FirstBus said: "We can confirm one of our buses in South Lanarkshire has been involved in a collision involving another vehicle and a parked car.

"We are providing our full support to police and other emergency services at the scene."
